Thai Open House 2010 in Washington, D.C.


           Thai Open House 2010 in Washington, D.C. “Thai Open House 2010”, a sizeable arts and culture fair, was held at the Royal Thai Embassy, Washington, D.C., on Saturday, May 1st, 2010.
           The event was hosted by the Embassy, in association with Cultural Tourism DC, under the Passport DC program. Joining Cultural Tourism DC’s passport DC program for the second consecutive year, the Embassy highlighted “Pad Thai, Muay Thai and Ram Thai” as key words to promote Thailand to the American public. 
           The event featured Thai food, Thai traditional dance and music, Thai massage, Talent Show by Thai youths, games, painting exhibition and information on Thai tourism. It also featured Thai Khon masks, silverware, fruit, vegetable, and soap carving and Thai handicrafts. 
            Highlights are on Muay Thai by Master Danny and a variety of music shows on stage. H.E. Ambassador Don Pramudwinai was invited to perform Muay Thai demonstration on the stage which received a big applause from the crowd. Thai contemporary music and music composed by the King of Thailand were performed by Kanasit Na-Nongkhai, a professional guitarist who used to play for Charus Fuengarom, Viyada Komarakul Na-Nakorn, Chaliang, Pan, etc.
             “Eve” Kamolchanok Verojna, a Thai movie star who came as a guest star of Kanasit, also sang along with his music. Kesvarin Tantavanich, a professional Thai flute player who was once played in the Largest Flute Ensemble with Sir James Galway, an event recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records, also performed a solo flute in this event. Approximately 4,000 visitors attended this one day event. Visitors were impressed by the non-stop and unique culture of staged perfrormances. Representatives of local Thai associations also praised the Embassy for the success of the event.

             งาน Thai Open House 2010 ณ กรุงวอชิงตัน เมื่อวันเสาร์ที่ 1 พฤษภาคม 2553 สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงวอชิงตัน ร่วมกับองค์กร Cultural Tourism DC จัดงาน Thai Open House 2010 ภายใต้โครงการ Passport DC ณ สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯเพื่อเผยแพร่วัฒนธรรมไทยและส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวไทย
              โดยในปีนี้ เป็นปีที่สองที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ เข้าร่วมโครงการ Passport DC กับ Cultural Tourism DC สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ซึ่งปีนี้ การประชาสัมพันธ์เน้นคำว่า “Pad Thai, Muay Thai, Ram Thai” เพื่อส่งเสริมให้ brand ของไทยเป็นที่จดจำในหมู่ชาวอเมริกัน กิจกรรมในงานประกอบด้วย การจำหน่ายอาหารไทย การแสดงนาฏศิลป์ไทย ดนตรีไทย นวดแผนไทย Talent Show โดยเยาวชนไทย ได้แก่ การโชว์มายากลและการแสดงขิม การให้ข้อมูลการท่องเที่ยวไทย นิทรรศการภาพศิลปะ การจัดแสดงหัวโขน เครื่องเงิน การสาธิตแกะสลักผัก ผลไม้ และสบู่ การเล่นเกมส์บนเวที และการจำหน่ายสินค้าไทย
              จุดเด่นของงานในปีนี้อยู่ที่การสาธิตมวยไทยจากค่ายมวยมาสเตอร์แดนนี่ โดยได้รับเกียรติจากฯพณฯ เอกอัครราชทูตดอน ปรมัตถ์วินัย ขึ้นสาธิตมวยไทยด้วยตนเอง เรียกเสียงปรบมือกึกก้องจากผู้ชม นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการแสดงดนตรีไทยสากล โดยคณาสิต ณ หนองคาย ผู้อยู่เบื้องหลังความสำเร็จของศิลปินหลายคน อาทิ ชรัส เฟื่องอารมย์ วิยะดา โกมารกุล ณ นคร เฉลียง ปั่น ฯลฯ
              โดยมีดารารับเชิญที่มาร่วมขับร้องเพลงพระราชนิพนธ์และเพลงไทยสากล ได้แก่ “อีฟ” กมลชนก เวโรจน์ และการแสดงฟลุตโดยเกศวรินทร์ ตันทวานิช ศิลปินไทยที่เคยลง Guinness Book of World Records ในการร่วมแสดงใน Largest Flute Ensemble with Sir James Galway มีผู้เข้าร่วมงานทั้งสิ้นประมาณ 4,000 คน และจากการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ที่มาเที่ยวชมงาน หลายคนชื่นชมในความสนุกสนานและเอกลักษณ์ไทยของการแสดงบนเวที และแสดงความยินดีในความสำเร็จของงาน
